In Uganda, research shows that electrifying agricultural activities can bring additional income for smallholder farmers. Power for All was well represented at the Sustainable Energy for All Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. The team, led by our CEO Kristina Skierka, also co-chaired two-panel discussions at the event, ‘Transitioning to the Grid of the Future’ and ‘Powering Jobs: Building a Workforce to Meet the SGD 7 Challenge’. The Powering Jobs campaign kicked off its first steering committee meeting in Ethiopia and held its second in Uganda. In Uganda, we hosted a kick-off of a national platform for strengthening the link between food and productive use of energy. Our India team convened a communications workshop with leading journalists in Jharkhand state, and organized the third installment of Energy Catalyst's "Lessons from the Frontline" series. According to a recent household survey by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, only 57% of Ugandans have access to any form of electricity. Of these, 19% and 38% were connected to the grid and off-grid power, respectively.
