Campaign update: June 2021

From the ground up: Translating Compacts to Implementation

June 23, 2021 Private sector plays a vital role in supporting the energy access ecosystem, including governments, national utilities, and the communities themselves. In the spirit of supporting the UN High Level Dialogue on Energy and the call to action to accelerate the end of energy poverty by 2030, Power for All hosted a side event on incorporating distributed renewable energy in national energy sector plans.

Featuring experts from key sector leadership organizations, African Minigrid Developer’s Association, CLASP, Global Off-Grid Lighting Association, Power for All and Shortlist, the dialogue focused both on the key technologies that can help countries achieve compact goals, as well as key aspects critical for sector success, including policy, finance and market activation. UN Food Systems Summit Social Media Takeover

June 25, 2021 Power for All hosted a successful social media takeover of  the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Twitter account. This was a great opportunity for the decentralized renewable energy (DRE) sector to strengthen the voice of the DRE community within the broader agriculture and food sectors ahead of the UNFSS, but also the High Level Dialogue on Energy and COP26.

Agri-Renewables for the Energy-Water-Food Nexus

June 15, 2021 Power for All chief campaign officer William Brent participated in a webinar, Agri-Renewables for the Energy-Water-Food Nexus organized by IRENA. The webinar gathered members of the IRENA Coalition for Action and invited experts in the field to discuss the benefits of agri-renewable solutions to jointly advance food security and energy transitions. Findings from the webinar will form the basis of a Coalition for Action technical brief that will help guide ongoing discussions on the topic in the lead up to the UN Food Systems Summit and High-Level Dialogue on Energy in September 2021.

Stakeholder Meeting on Clean Energy Cooling Hubs

June 14, 2021 Power for All, African Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-Chain, FAO and UNEP hosted a stakeholder meeting to brief interested countries on a Clean Energy Cooling Hubs concept that has emerged as a potential "gamechanger" in the UN Food Systems Summit process.

Data for Energy Access: Power for All's Platform for Energy Access Knowledge (PEAK)

In 2016, Power for All created the Platform for Energy Access Knowledge (PEAK), an interactive knowledge platform to help bridge a gap – both to provide data needed by the Decentralized renewable energy (DRE) sector, and to help make most effective use of the information which already exists. PEAK addresses the gap in information availability and use by supporting the visibility, discoverability and usability of critical knowledge for individuals, organizations and communities working to make energy accessible to all. The PEAK technology integrates a select portfolio of open access applications that together facilitate the ability to process and synthesize relevant publicly available reports and data to make sure important information gets to a broader audience.

Why is PEAK important?

The platform offers you a specialized library of documents and a very sector search function that helps practitioners to find documents much easier which allows you to share and download them for future use. PEAK also provides instant visualization that can be saved, downloaded and shared on social media platforms so that you can engage with your audience on a real time basis. It also offers users an opportunity to work collaboratively by building a personalized library and sharing  data across the globe.
