Powering Jobs Census 2022: Focus on Kenya

Download the Powering Jobs Census 2022: The Energy Access Workforce Kenya report to learn how the decentralized renewable energy (DRE) sector is steadily recovering from the negative impacts of COVID-19. Almost 3,000 jobs were lost in 2020 and 2021 due to a decline in the sales of Solar Home Systems. The sector is expected to bounce back to its pre-pandemic employment numbers by the end of 2022, with total jobs projected to reach 53,000. The report provides a comprehensive overview of employment in the DRE sector, including skill levels, training opportunities, compensation, participation of women and youth, and job retention. It is based on a survey of more than 350 companies and numerous focus groups across five countries: Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda.
