Powering up the workforce for universal energy access

Tuesday 24 May, 2-3pm BST (GMT+1)

Ashden and BloombergNEF (BNEF) invite you to join us as we explore how to blast through the jobs and skills barrier preventing universal access to clean, affordable, decentralized energy.

Expert speakers will share new data and research from frontline enterprises and organisations in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and India - as well as inspiring case studies from Ashden's network of grassroots innovators.

We will ask how action can support marginalised and excluded groups, paths to greater investment in proven solutions, and how a jobs and skills focus might bring more government support for energy access.

The decentralised renewable energy sector could produce 4.5 million new jobs by 2030, and enable five times as many across society. Discover the policy and funding actions that could unlock this enormous opportunity.

Speakers will include:

  • Harriet Lamb, Ashden CEO
  • Luiza Demôro, Head of Energy Transitions, BloombergNEF
  • Suranjana Ghosh, Director of Partnerships and Campaigns, Power For All
  • Jane Muigai Kamphuis, Ashden trustee and Director & Founder, The Toolkit iSkills
  • Julius Mujuni, Country Director, New Energy Nexus
