Campaign Manager, Zimbabwe
Chiedza Mazaiwana is the Power for All Campaign Manager in Zimbabwe. She has worked for Practical Action in Southern Africa under the Energy Access thematic area for the past five years. Chiedza advised Southern African nations in the development of decentralized micro hydro systems. She advocated for these isolated communities’ participation in the planning, implementation and management of the projects, and built energy advocacy through women’s groups, community based organizations, cooperatives, and local government. Through this engagement, Chiedza developed policy and strategy to implement pro poor energy access reforms —influencing governments, donors, private sector, and other civil society organizations in the process. She spearheaded the advocacy strategy for Practical Action Southern Africa, and mobilized civil society efforts in the SE4All Initiative through the facilitation of in-country CSO networks. These networks are advocacy bodies to influence pro-poor energy policies in Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and work closely with the governments as key stakeholders in the SE4All national processes. Chiedza has a passion for making a difference in the lives of marginalized communities, particularly women and children. She believes that energy opens doors of unimaginable possibility and opportunity —fostering a better lifestyle and wellbeing for all.
