Funding from DfID, a presence at COP21 in Paris and incredible activity from Rwanda—here’s what’s been going on at Power for All—please join the campaign and get involved.

Growing Support for Energy Access

Power for All announced funding from the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID) to advance policy and financial environments conducive to achieving universal energy access through clean, off-grid energy solutions by 2025. Power for All will work to accelerate markets for distributed renewable energy in a dozen African countries involved in UKAID’s Energy Africa campaign. Initial focus will be on Nigeria, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

Elevating the Power of Decentralized Renewables

We have been profiling the potential of decentralized renewables from the Dubai Global Off-Grid Lighting Conference to the UK’s Energy Africa campaign—and we’ve been spreading the word through Guardian debates, an Op-Ed in the Huffington Post and articles on, Cleantechnica, Devex and more. See more in News and Media.

We were also delighted to secure the participation of the Government of Rwanda in the 24 Hours of Reality global broadcast, where Robert Nyamvumba, Director, Energy Division, Ministry of Infrastructure profiled Rwanda’s work to bring off-grid power to 22% of its population. Sadly, the broadcast was cut short by the tragic events in Paris shortly after. Our thoughts remain with all those in the city and we will be standing with them and others from the sector during the UNFCCC events this week.

In-Market Activity

In December, members of the Power for All team will be visiting Nigeria, Rwanda and Sierra Leone to lay the foundations for our in-country work. We’d love to hear from you if you are in those countries and we are excited to share more news as it comes. Watch this space!
